Learn more about Lauren

Hi, I’m Lauren Scafe.

I am a so thrilled that you found my little spot on the internet! On this page you’ll find a lot of information about relationships, intimacy and sex education that is presented from an evidence-based, non-judgmental and inclusive perspective. Not everything on my website will apply to you or even be something that you’re interested in - that’s perfectly fine! As I often say, take what works for you and leave the rest.

But I am guessing since you’re here, you’re curious about a particular topic, feeling rather stuck in a certain area of your life, trying to figure out how to heal from something or someone that hurt you, trying to figure how to get back that spark you used to have, or something of the sort. If so, I truly hope that the information provided here can help you feel less alone, help you identify your next step and leave you feeling supported in some capacity.

I am passionate about normalizing these topics that often feel taboo in our culture. The fact remains that sex affects everything. Our self-esteem, our confidence, our relationship to self and others, and sometimes how we view the world. My mission is to offer education and tools that empower you to have a healthy relationship with your own sexuality on your terms. Thank you so much for being here.

With gratitude,

Lauren

  • Trust me when I tell you that I know how vulnerable and intimidating it can be to reach out for support. Add the extra layer of trying to talk to someone about sex and intimacy and it can be downright paralyzing. I want you to know that you’re not alone in these feelings and I am committed to supporting you in any capacity that is within my scope of practice.

In therapy, I utilize a number of modalities to support my clients and their unique needs. While sex therapy is my specialization, I strongly believe that all individuals benefit from incorporating body-based, trauma-informed modalities such as EMDR are also needed in order to create growth, dig deeper into the healing process and facilitate change for those seeking out support.

Most of us did not grow up in an environment that taught us about our feelings, how to engage in healthy conflict, or how to communicate in an effective way with our partner(s) so it makes sense that you would need support to have an overall healthier relationship!

In my office I work very hard to create an inclusive and compassionate environment to support the healing process. I love teaching and supporting clients through the following modalities: sex therapy, EMDR, Polyvagal Theory, Attachment Theory, CBT, and narrative therapy. Please know that if you don't know what any of these techniques are, that's okay! Therapy is a learning journey and I'll be there with you every step of the way.
